Who We Are

It’s perhaps a bit early in the company’s growth to talk about “we”, when for now it is just two founders, Mark Gooding and Djamal Boukerroui – but “we” is aspirational. While aspirational is good, honesty is more important and necessary for good scientific research. Inpictura is founded on this principle; committed to science and committed to integrity. You’ll get honesty from Inpictura, and that starts acknowledging it’s just two of us… for now.

Our Purpose

To contribute to the improvement of medical imaging technology through meticulous research and generous collaboration, for the benefit of patients globally. To grow the company in a sustainable way to the benefit of both customers and all employees.

Dr Mark Gooding

Mark completed a DPhil in Medical Image Analysis at University of Oxford in 2004. Subsequently he held academic post-doctoral research positions in both academia and the NHS, largely focused around women’s health. In 2009, he joined Mirada Medical Ltd, motivated by a desire to see technical innovation translated into clinical practice. He has worked on a broad spectrum of clinical applications, developing algorithms for both diagnostic and therapeutic purposes, and in a broad variety of roles. As Chief Scientific Officer at Mirada, Mark led the team that developed the first deep-learning based autocontouring software for radiation oncology that was cleared for clinical use.

Mark’s “happy place” when at work is somewhere between academia and industry (technology readiness levels 3-8). He loves researching solutions to challenging problems, but is passionate about getting those solutions to the clinical end-user. He founded Inpictura to offer his skills more broadly, to foster collaboration between industry, academia and the clinic.

Dr Djamal Boukerroui

After completing a PhD in Medical Image Processing at Institut National des Sciences Appliquées de Lyon in 2000, Djamal took an academic path with a post-doc research position at University of Oxford. In 2002, he was appointed Maître de Conférences (University Lecturer) at Université de Technologie de Compiègne. Djamal returned to the UK in 2014, joining the research team at Mirada Medical Ltd. Djamal’s blend of strong academic excellence and practical industry experience enables him to develop solutions both with technical brilliance and the necessary pragmatism required to deliver a practical robust solution.

Djamal is a mathematician at heart. He is happiest when he reaches a elegant solution to a technical problem. As a founder of Inpictura, he is keen to contribute his academic insights to develop technical innovations which solve real end-user problems.
